AI Decision Assistant for decision flows

AI Decision Assistant for decision flows

The AI Decision Assistant lets you manage your decision flows through a natural conversation. Instead of manually adding steps and configuring logic one by one, you can describe what you need in plain language — the assistant plans the changes, generates the decision logic, and applies it to your flow.

It is one assistant. The same AI Decision Assistant builds case designs, proposes a data source configuration, and opens a new account in getting started. This page covers decision flows.

You can use it to:

  • Add new steps to your flow (rule sets, decision tables, scorecards, decision trees, functions, data sources)
  • Modify existing decision logic
  • Remove steps and reconnect the flow
  • Change routing between steps
  • Get explanations of what your current flow does

Opening the Assistant

  1. Navigate to Decision Flows and open the flow you want to work with
  2. Click the sparkles button in the flow header. Its tooltip reads AI Decision Assistant
  3. The assistant opens in a split-pane modal:
    • Left pane — Chat conversation
    • Right pane — Live flow preview with your current diagram

How It Works

The assistant works in four phases, shown as a progress indicator in the header: Gather → Confirm → Generate → Complete.

Phase 1: Describe What You Need (Gather)

Type your request in the chat input. You can describe changes at any level of detail — from high-level business requirements to specific technical modifications.

Examples of what you can ask:

  • "Add an age eligibility check before the scoring step"
  • "Create a decision table for loan amount thresholds with three tiers"
  • "Remove the fraud check step and connect the data enrichment directly to the approval logic"
  • "Add a fork after the initial check — one branch for individuals, one for companies"
  • "Explain what the current flow does"

The assistant may ask follow-up questions to better understand your requirements. Continue the conversation until the assistant has enough information to propose a plan.

Voice Input

You can also speak your request instead of typing:

  1. Click the microphone icon next to the send button
  2. Allow microphone access if prompted
  3. Speak your request — the recording indicator shows elapsed time
  4. Click Stop and transcribe when finished
  5. The audio is automatically transcribed and submitted — no extra steps needed

Phase 2: Review the Plan (Confirm)

Once the assistant understands your requirements, it proposes a list of planned steps. Each step describes a specific change:

  • What will be created or modified (e.g., "Create Rule Set: Age Eligibility Check")
  • A description of what the step will contain
  • The type of operation (create, modify, or remove)

The flow preview updates simultaneously on the right pane with color-coded nodes:

ColorMeaning
GreenNew steps being added to the flow
OrangeExisting steps being modified
Red (dashed)Steps or connections being removed

A summary bar shows the total count of additions, modifications, and deletions.

Approving and Rejecting Steps

For each planned step, you can:

  • Click ✓ to approve it
  • Click ✗ to skip it

Or use the bulk actions:

  • Approve All — approve every proposed step
  • Reject All — skip every proposed step

You can also continue chatting to ask the assistant to adjust the plan before confirming.

Phase 3: Generate

Once you've approved at least one step, click "Confirm generate". The assistant begins generating the actual decision logic:

  • Progress updates appear in real time for each step
  • Each step transitions from pending to in-progress to completed
  • The generation typically takes a few seconds to a minute, depending on complexity

Phase 4: Review and Apply (Complete)

After generation completes, you can review everything before committing:

Inline Summaries

Each completed step shows a compact summary of what was generated — for example, "+3 rows", "2 rules", "+4 tree nodes".

Detailed Preview

Click any completed step to open a detailed preview in the right pane. Depending on the type of logic, you'll see:

Logic TypePreview Shows
Rule setsFull list of generated rules with conditions and actions
Decision tablesRow-level view with all columns and conditions
Decision treesNode tree with branching paths
ScorecardsPredictors with scoring criteria
FunctionsFormula with variable references
Flow routingVisual diagram of added/removed connections

For modifications to existing entities, the preview shows a before/after comparison so you can verify exactly what changed.

Click "Back to flow" to return to the full flow diagram.

Applying the Changes

When you're satisfied with the generated changes:

  1. Click "Build this" under the planned changes
  2. The system creates or updates all decision logic entities and modifies the flow structure
  3. A confirmation message shows how many changes were applied
  4. Save the decision flow to persist the changes — the apply button updates the flow in your editor but does not automatically save

What the AI Can Create and Modify

CapabilityWhat It Does
Rule setsCreate new rule sets or add/modify rules with conditions and actions
Decision tablesCreate tables or add/modify rows with column-level conditions
Decision treesCreate trees or add/modify branching nodes and paths
ScorecardsCreate scorecards or update predictors and scoring criteria
FunctionsCreate functions with formulas and calculated attributes
Data sourcesConfigure external data source calls with parameters
Flow stepsAdd new steps and insert them at specific positions in the flow
RoutingAdd or remove connections between steps
ForksCreate branching points with condition-based paths
Step removalRemove steps and automatically reconnect surrounding logic

Tips

  • Start simple — describe one change at a time for the most accurate results, or describe a comprehensive set of changes for the assistant to plan holistically
  • Review before applying — always check the generated logic in the preview, especially conditions and threshold values
  • Iterate — if the plan doesn't match what you need, continue the conversation to refine it rather than starting over
  • Use Clear chat (the circular arrow in the header) to start the conversation over
  • Save after applying — the "Build this" button updates your editor, but you must save the decision flow to persist the changes
  • Voice works anywhere — use voice input during any phase, including when refining the plan
  • Decision Flow — Understanding decision flows and steps
  • Releases — Releasing and deploying your flow after making changes
