Calculate your chargeback ratio
Enter monthly card transactions and chargebacks, then set your acquirer’s thresholds. See each month’s ratio, what the chargebacks cost and how many next month keep you under the limit.
Latest ratio
In Oct, 300 counted against 52,000 transactions gives a ratio of 0.58%.
At 52,000 transactions, at most 779 chargebacks next month keep the ratio under the 1.5% limit.

Bars show the ratio each month, orange over the warning level and red over the limit. Dashed lines show the two thresholds.

How to calculate a chargeback ratio
A chargeback ratio compares counted chargebacks with card transactions for a month. Depending on your acquirer’s counting rule, fraud reports may count with chargebacks, and the ratio may use transactions from the same month or the previous month.
The result shows how each month compares with the warning level and limit you enter. Use the figures to see the months over each level and how many chargebacks next month keep the ratio under the limit.
Chargeback ratio questions
How do you calculate a chargeback ratio?
Divide the counted chargebacks by the transactions used as the denominator. This calculator applies the counting rule you select and shows the ratio by month.
What is a good chargeback ratio?
The thresholds and minimum count depend on your acquirer’s rules. Enter those figures to see how each month compares with your warning level and limit.
Do fraud reports count toward the chargeback ratio?
They count when your acquirer’s rule includes them. Use the checkbox to include fraud reports with chargebacks in the calculation.
Should I use same-month or previous-month transactions?
Use the counting rule your acquirer applies. This calculator lets you divide by transactions from the same month or the previous month.
How can I get my chargeback ratio under the limit?
The calculator shows how many fewer chargebacks the latest month needed to stay under the limit. Rules on each payment can be tested on past transactions before they go live.
