Treatments by bucket

Add a no-action row with cost 0 for each bucket where you held accounts back. This lets you compare treatments with what accounts do on their own. A treatment with the same name is treated as the same treatment in every bucket.

Three demo buckets, with up to three treatments each.

A cure is worth the balance that would otherwise be lost, so the share lost if not cured sets what each cure is worth in that bucket.

Value by treatment

Bars show value per account after cost. The solid bar is each bucket’s best, orange when it is not clearly ahead, and the thin lines show the range from the cure rate’s 95% interval.

See the formulas
Cure rate = Accounts cured ÷ Accounts treated (95% interval: Wilson, 95%)
Value of cure = Average balance × Balance lost if not cured
Value per account = Cure rate × Value of cure − Cost per account
Value per month = Entering per month × Value per account
Best, clearly ahead: Its value at the low end of its interval beats the runner-up’s at the high end

A cure counts as you count it, and its value is the balance not lost. Later re-default and the timing of payments are left out.

Collections cure rate calculator

A collections cure rate is the share of treated accounts that cure. Enter accounts treated and cured for each treatment and bucket to compare cure rates and their 95% intervals.

Treatment cost and the balance lost when an account does not cure affect what each cure is worth. Use the results to compare treatments by bucket and see the monthly value of the best treatment in each.

Collections cure rate questions

How do I calculate a collections cure rate?

Divide the accounts cured by the accounts treated. This calculator works out that rate for each treatment and bucket.

How do I compare collections treatments by cost?

The value per account is the cure rate multiplied by the value of a cure, minus the cost per account. Compare that value across treatments in each bucket.

Why compare a treatment with no action?

A no-action row shows what accounts do on their own. Comparing against it shows the difference in monthly value between the best treatments and no action.

Which treatment should I use for each delinquency bucket?

The calculator selects the treatment with the highest value per account in each bucket. The table shows that treatment and its value a month if the whole bucket got it.

How can I tell if one treatment beats another?

The calculator marks the best treatment clearly ahead when its value at the low end of its interval beats the runner-up’s value at the high end. Otherwise, the result shows that the best is not clearly ahead.
