Credit card limit calculator for Indonesia

Enter one applicant or cardholder to calculate a credit card limit in Indonesia. The result is the lowest of what card behaviour allows, income carries after other debts and the rules allow, with the binding rule named.

Market and caps

The Indonesian caps are the figures in Bank Indonesia circular 14/17/DASP of 2012. The 2022 regulation PADG 24/7/PADG/2022 keeps these caps and leaves their figures to Bank Indonesia’s written notice to issuers. Check the current figures before relying on them.

The interest rate changes the result only for the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Belgium and Mexico, and the repayment period only for the United Kingdom.

0 leaves this cap off.

The limit is Rp18,000,000, set by rules in Indonesia (Bank Indonesia). Behaviour gives Rp21,000,000, income carries Rp44,000,000, and the market’s rules allow Rp18,000,000, which reflects an income cap in some markets and a repayment test in others.

High utilisation with enough statements paid in full earns the large increase.

Behaviour limit, New applicant = Starting income multiple × Monthly net income
Behaviour limit, Cardholder = Today’s limit × (1 + Large increase | Small increase) or × (1 − Cut after missed payments)
Affordability limit = (Income share for all debt payments × Monthly net income − Other debt payments) ÷ Card payment share of limit
Own income cap = Own income cap × Monthly net income
Market = Lowest applicable market cap
Credit limit = min(Behaviour limit, Affordability limit, Own income cap, Market), Rounded down Rounding step

The affordability limit assumes the card is fully drawn, and the behaviour rules are an example policy to edit, not a standard. Regulatory caps are summaries for this tool and are not legal advice.

How Indonesia sets credit card limits

Bank Indonesia's rules give no card to people with monthly income below Rp3,000,000. From Rp3,000,000 through Rp10,000,000, total card limits across issuers are capped at three times monthly income, less limits held elsewhere, and cards may come from no more than two issuers. Above Rp10,000,000, the rules set no cap.

The calculator compares the behaviour limit, affordability limit, the lender's own income cap and Indonesia's rules, then uses the lowest. Which one binds depends on the applicant's or cardholder's figures. Use the result to review that case and edit the example behaviour policy.
