Business rules management system (BRMS)
A BRMS is software for writing, storing, testing and changing business rules outside application code. A rule engine executes rules, whereas a BRMS covers their management as well as their execution.
Example
In a worked illustration, a lender stores a rule that approves an application when income is at least $50,000 and debt ratio is below 40%. An application meeting both conditions receives an “approve” result; an application that fails either condition receives a “review” result.
On Decisimo, the business rules engine explains how portal edits become revisions that can be compared or reverted before a release is deployed to an endpoint.
